What is the Fat Joy Summer Celebration? Is it different from the Body Positive Block Party?
August 1-3, 2025 is the Fat Joy Summer Celebration in Portland, Or. It’s a weekend full of events created, produced, planned, and celebrating the talented and skilled fat community in PDX.
The FJSC is the overall name of the festival/celebration. Contained under that umbrella are events such as Sizable Shenanigans (a comedy variety show featuring fat performers), TellTale (a storytelling event featuring the stories of plus size people), Rolling with my Fatties: a shopping party on wheels, Big Splash: an inclusive sunset pool party, and the Body Positive Block Party (music, food, drinks, vendors, pop-up shops, activities, drag bingo, speed friending and more).
What was it like last year?
2023 was our first year of expanding from just the Big Splash pool party to including the Body Positive Block Party thanks to a grant from Prosper Portland and Portland Events and Film. Curious Comedy also came on board with Sizable Shenanigans (a comedy variety show) and the Fat Joy Summer Celebration was officially a 3 day event.
Last year, the pool party sold out all 300 tickets in just a couple minutes. Sizable Shenanigans was a sold out full house and the Block Party had over 700 visitors shopping with vendors, visiting with goats, eating great food, playing bingo with drag queens, enjoying live music and so much more!
Sponsorship Process
Contact us at sponsors@chubhubpdx.com with any questions or to begin the sponsorship process.
1) work with chub hub to discuss your marketing goals and how we can help you achieve them
2) sign online agreement outlining your package and what you will recieve
3) make payment for your sponsorship
4) deliver necessary assets for promotion which may include your logo, brand images, copy (such as your about or mission statement), advertisment (for print or projection) etc. *we will send you a customized list of asset needs specific to your sponsorship package.
5) we’ll add your promotion to our marketing calendar if relevant and begin promotion. We track the list of promomtions to make sure everyone gets everything in their package.
*If your package includes tickets to shows or events, these will be forwarded to you before the celebration takes place.
