Who? How many people?
There are several group cabins that each sleep 12 people in a large dorm style room. We are expecting to cap this first annual camp at 80 people.
This camp centers folks living in fat and/or disabled bodies, however it’s ok to get a ticket to bring a partner or friend who’s not fat with you. Please be sure your non-fat guests are allies for fat liberation.
Where? Location description
The camp is on the Oregon coast just outside of Lincoln City. Lincoln City is about 2 hours west of Portland (also 2 hours from Eugene).
Accessibility info
This camp is really special in that it is the only ADA camp in Oregon (and possibly further). They were very thoughtful in their renovations and all buildings are ADA accessible. Bathrooms, showers and main floor cabins are all wheelchair accessible. The camp has paved pathways that go to every area of camp, entrances to all buildings have ramps, there is a lift for the pool and the whole camp is quite compact so there’s no long treks up and down steep hills. We plan to rent a golf cart for extra help with moving people around camp and, with permission, we can have people drop their stuff off directly in front of their cabins.
Bathroom access
Each group cabin has an ADA multi toilet stall bathroom and showers for the cabin to share.
There are also ADA bathrooms in every building as well as at the poolhouse and a bathroom house in the middle of the campus. There are several bathrooms around camp that are single private restrooms and some of those also have showers.
Heat/cooling/weather
September on the coast has a history of being temperate. It also tends to be windier than in the valley.
The cabins have both heating and cooling as well as windows for fresh air.
Events and activities
This long weekend is meant for you to choose your own adventures. There will be yoga, crafting, bonfires, s’mores, peer-led skills teaching, parties, social time, singing, dancing, a large heated outdoor pool, lake front dock access, pickleball, rock hunting at nearby beaches, hiking, (un)talent show, plus lots of other fun.
Special guests will be offering the opportunity for campers to add on paid experiences like photoshoots, massages, and maybe event tattoos??
Food and drink options
Food & drink is included in the price of camp!!
Meals will be served buffet style and we’ll be getting information from campers about food restrictions closer to camp time.
Campers can also bring your own food, snacks, drink, etc. There are large fridges in the mess hall where you can store your noms, drinks and medications if needed.
Additionally there is a grocery store and restaurants in nearby Lincoln City less than 10 minutes away.
Alcohol (and other things)
You’re all adults so we’ll leave it to you to make good choices. You can BYOB to camp but if you do embibe, you must be of legal age to do so and we ask that you enjoy responsibly and respectfully of others in camp and especially the other people in your cabin.
No smoking of any kind is allowed inside the cabins.
Please leave anything that’s not legal at home for this camp weekend.
Covid policy
To help keep folks safer we will require folks to take a covid test 24 hours or less before arriving at camp.
Transportation options
Attendees will need to make their own way to camp. However we’ll happily facilitate connecting attendees with each other for carpooling options.
Refund policy
There are no refunds for any reason, however, transfers to a new attendee are allowed by simply letting Beth know the new person’s name and email.
Photo/video release policy
Please note that we’ll be taking photos and video clips to document the fun. We’ll share those images with you and with Chub Hub. We may use them for showing off how much damn fun we had. They won’t be used or given out for use by anyone outside these organizations.
Want to come to camp but don’t want to sleep in the bunkhouses with your friends?
There are a couple of additional sleeping options off camp grounds. You can get a hotel in Lincoln City and come to camp each day for meals and activities.
Or there is a KOA campground across the street that has individual cabins as well as camping and RV sites for rent.
At this time there is no discount for choosing to sleep off-site but campgrounds will be open all day (and night) so you can come and go as you like.
